Established in 1999, the Children’s Center of the Cumberlands is Scott County’s dedicated Child Advocacy Center (CAC)—a safe, child-focused facility where healing begins. Through coordinated care and specialized services, the Center ensures that children who may have experienced abuse or neglect are met with understanding, protection, and unwavering support.
Here, trained professionals from law enforcement, child protective services, prosecution, medical care, and mental health work together in a child-friendly environment to investigate cases and guide families through each step with empathy and expertise.
💛 Core Services Include:
- Forensic Interviews conducted by certified professionals in a supportive setting
- SANE Medical Exams by Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners for accurate documentation and gentle care
- Victim Advocacy, offering emotional support, legal guidance, and resource connections
- Mental Health Counseling with trauma-informed therapy for children and families
- Prevention Education across Pre-K through 12th grade, covering body safety, internet awareness, and healthy relationships
- Community Trainings on topics such as abuse reporting, safe sleep, and head trauma awareness
As an accredited member of the National Children’s Alliance since 2005, the Center maintains high standards of care and confidentiality, complying fully with HIPAA regulations and civil rights protections.
