Huntsville, Tenn. — The Plateau Players, Scott County's community theatre program, will be hosting the Word Players from Knoxville for an upcoming performance of "Walk, Don't Ride," by Peter Manos.
The Feb. 4 performance is a Black History work, commemorating the struggle for equality by America's Black Community through the nonviolent protest movement. As told through drama and song, the play highlights the stories of the Montgomery Bus Boycott, the Nashville Lunch Counter Sit-ins, and the Greyhound Freedom Rides.
The Word Players are a non-profit troupe of professional actors from Knoxville, who seek to offer Christian based theatre to Knoxville and the surrounding region.
The show on Feb. 4 will be the group's debut in the Scott County arts community. Tickets for the 7 p.m. performance are $8 for adults and $5 for students, available at the door. Tickets can be reserved by emailing Jean Lewis at lewisj@nova.edu.
