Where is Scott County?
Scott County is located in Northeastern Tennessee on the Cumberland Plateau in the western foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in a rugged and scenic region. The western portion of Scott County consists of the Big South Fork Cumberland River Gorge. Scott county is Approximately 60 miles north west of Knoxville, Tennessee, 155 miles north east of Nashville, Tennessee and 65 miles south of Lexington, Kentucky.
Scott County has three incorporated municipalities; Huntsville, Oneida and Winfield and several smaller communities. The people are friendly, the views inspiring, and the opportunities are boundless.
Huntsville, the hometown of Ambassador Howard H. Baker, Jr. is the county seat for Scott County. Huntsville is the geographic center of Scott County. Huntsville was incorporated in 1965.
Oneida is the largest town in Scott County, and was incorporated in 1913. Oneida serves as the residential, commercial and industrial center of the county.
Winfield is located along the US Highway 27 in the extreme northern portion of Scott County on the Kentucky line. Winfield was incorporated in 1983. Winfield possesses a rural character and small town atmosphere.
